In recent years, there has been a global surge in sustainable living practices and heightened environmental consciousness, with numerous nations committing to achieving net zero emissions by 2050. Consequently, a growing number of companies are developing products using low-carbon materials such as biodegradable or bio-mass materials. These materials facilitate the natural return of products to the earth, thereby re-entering the ecological cycle and mitigating carbon emissions.

However, ensuring the compostability or biodegradability of these products requires rigorous testing under defined simulated environments and conditions established by international standards. Accredited laboratories play a pivotal role in conducting these tests to assess parameters such as biodegradation rate, ecotoxicity, and related properties, thereby qualifying the products.

Plastics Industry Development Center, PIDC, offers high-quality services and comprehensive testing/analytical reports to clients, enabling them to obtain internationally recognized certifications. These certifications not only enhance global marketing and branding efforts but also instill consumer confidence in the products' sustainability.

PIDC is the premier compostability laboratory in Taiwan, recognized by certification bodies worldwide, including DIN Certco (Germany), BPI (U.S.A.), ABA (Australia), REAL (U.K.), and TAF (Taiwan). As a strictly independent laboratory adhering to ISO/IEC 17025 standards, PIDC ensures the integrity and accuracy of its testing processes.

Our testing services cover various categories:

  • Industrial Compostable:

  • Compliance with standards such as EN 13432, ASTM D6400, ASTM D6868, AS 4736, and CNS 14661

  • Material Analysis: EN 13432

  • Heavy Metal Analysis: EN 14582 & NIEA W413.5, EPA 3052 & EPA 6010C

  • Biodegradability Test: ISO 14855-1, ASTM D5338, CNS 14432

  • Disintegration Test: ISO 16929, ISO 20200, CNS 15262

  • Ecotoxicity (Plants Growth) Test: OECD G208

  • Home/Garden Compostable:

  • Biodegradability Test in accordance with NF T51-800, AS 5810, Ref. EN 13432
